archibald prize
Last night we went to the Art Gallery of NSW to view the Archibald prize exhibition, and, wow!! Some of the paintings were just incredible, and some look like photos - like this one of Vincent Fantauzzo.
Running alongside the Archibald - which is portraits - was the Sulman prize (subject or genre painting) and the Wynne prize (figure sculpture, landscape or scenery).
I fell in love with this painting (above) by Song Ling; the interwebs doesn't do it justice, it looks so incredible in it's giant 3d form! Oh, to have money!! I googled it, and it's for sale - but I'd have just enough change from $15k to cover the delivery charges. I can only hope that one day, the artist becomes so wildly famous and popular that he begins selling prints of his brilliant work :)
